External Description:

Pedestal Foods is looking for a remote Assistant Operations Manager to join our team! You will partner with the Operations Manager to guide our K-12 school meal program execution. You will be responsible for ensuring client satisfaction and guiding the unit managers in their day-to-day operational execution while achieving revenue growth.  You will have an extensive travel schedule to visit our schools but this will be considered a remote role. We would ideally like you to live in proximity to Nashville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, or Memphis but let's talk if you think you are a good fit!  

Ideal Experience:

  • Prior experience in a contract food service environment – multi-unit would be ideal
  • Understanding of the difference in public school and private school meal programs
  • Understanding of how to evaluate a unit’s food service program and make improvements; Coachable and able to see a unit with fresh eyes
  • Able to deliver contracted deliverables in food costs and service
  • Able to lead and mentor individual unit managers in delivering contracted deliverables
  • Able to collaborate with clients and team to delivery quality food service program
  • Able to travel weekly to one of our units – you will probably spend 3 days a week on the road
  • Personable and able to effectively interact with the client school contact
  • Preferably based in Nashville, Chattanooga, Memphis, or Atlanta

Who you are:

  • A current or former food service multi-unit manager – preferably in contracted food service environment
  • A high school graduate or equivalent
  • A good communicator with the ability to set, communicate, and meet goals
  • Able to lead and mentor the leaders of our individual unit teams
  • You understand the common unit evaluation criteria and can set the standards for Pedestal Foods units
  • Enjoy traveling to visit our school locations based in multiple states (primarily Tennessee, Missouri, Georgia, Ohio) at least once per quarter
  • Seeks to work in tandem with the Operations Manager to implement next level service to our clients
